Uttoxeter MP Janet Dean has commented that she hopes that recent Government plans to support the rather battered and bruised construction industry will give a huge boost to JCB.

JCB's workers have been in crisis after plans were announced to ballot them over whether they would accept a four-day working week or see 500 more job cuts.

JCB's sales have dropped dramatically as the credit crunch has hit the construction industry hard. Chancellor Alistair Darling has said he wants to increase borrowing and fast-track construction projects to boost the industry.

Uttoxeter MP Janet Dean went on to say "There are difficult times around the world and the further job losses at JCB reflect that."
