Filtering exhaust emissions 131

Particulate filters and their application to plant hire machinery is a subject causing a large amount of Friction in the industry at this particular moment in time.

The Greater London Authority insist that filters are fitted on each and every machine with a diesel engine greater than 37kW in an effort to curb emissions and cut down on particulate matter on building sites, something many plant hire firms object to.

Site Serv Construction however are currently working on a Norwest Holst project to convert a warehouse into a date centre found it had no choice but to invest in the filters and related equipment.

Because they are working in a confined space the contractors are restricted on the emissions allowed from their plant hire machinery. Site Serv fitted filters onto every single machine to reduce Co2 and also to manage particulate levels.

Investing in filtering equipment is quickly being seen as a viable alternative to renting it and more and more companies appear to be proceeding down this route.
