The popular ABC show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" television show will no longer be featuring equipment made by Caterpillar Inc. The reason for this appears to be the fact that the logos on the equipment would have to be covered up or artificially blurred for broadcast.
Caterpillar Inc have been replaced by United Rentals who currently have a contract with the ABC network. Melanie Spurgeon, owner of Design Built Homes commented "My understanding is (Caterpillar) can't be on the show. They will not be on the show."
Spurgeon's company was selected by producers to be the lead builder
for the project and has been searching for volunteers and companies to
help with the effort, which requires heavy equipment for demolition and
construction. Caterpillar were the obvious choice because Peoria serves as their headquarters.
"This is Caterpillar country," Spurgeon said."I know they can help on the local level, which can
include providing monetary donations to the project and offering up
other services. I was told they have enough exposure and they'll have to decide what they want to do."
United Rentals lists their previous works on the show on their website. "United Rentals branches across the country supplied more than 1,000
pieces of equipment and countless contractor supplies in support of
ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," according to the site. "We are
proud to have partnered with the 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' team
in helping these deserving families."
